Raisins

Raisin is a variety of grape. This particular grape is obtained by drying a variety of grape native to the Turkish, Iranian or Greek territories. This variety of grape has small golden-yellow elliptically shaped berries with a very sweet taste. Once dried, it gets amber shades while the flesh remains firm with a thin peel easy to chew. Its sultanas name is linked to the name of the city of Sultania in the Crimea peninsula where in ancient times it was widely cultivated and used in cooking. Currently the main production of sultanas is in Turkey but also in Australia and the United States.
